.Deep and abundant tropical moisture and minor disturbances
tracking in from the south will continue to produce scattered rain
showers and isolated thunderstorms this morning across much of
the area from about El Paso east. The heaviest rainfall is
expected to taper off around noon today, with lighter showers
continuing throughout the afternoon and evening. Radar rainfall
estimates and surface observations show a fairly wide band of one-
half inch plus rain fell in a line from El Paso to Cloudcroft east
as far as Dell City. A heavier band of rainfall of 1 to 2 inches
fell in a line from far east El Paso to Timberon and east. The
heaviest rainfall band of around 2 to 3 inches fell from the
Fabens/Tornillo area up across Desert Haven in Hudspeth County and
to the Otero Mesa in far southern Otero County. These areas with
the heavy rainfall of Monday night could be especially susceptible
to flooding if more rain falls in those areas this morning. The
threat of flash flooding should end early this afternoon.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of south central New Mexico and southwest Texas,
including the following areas El Paso, eastern Hudspeth, and
much of Otero counties.

* Until noon MDT today

* Deep tropical moisture continues to stream into the region.
lingering rain showers and a few embedded thunderstorms, may
continue to move over areas which have already gotten heavy rain
overnight. Storm total rainfall will range from 1 to 3 inches,
with up to 0.50″ more possible this morning.
Instruction: A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
