Description: A nearly stationary frontal boundary in combination with multiple
upper level disturbances will result in several rounds of showers
and thunderstorms through midweek. Heavy rainfall rates are
expected with some of these storms due to high amounts of Gulf of
Mexico moisture streaming north into the region. This will
increase the risk for flash flooding. This watch may eventually be
expanded east to include other portions of the Missouri Ozarks.
The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast Kansas and
Missouri, including the following areas, in southeast Kansas,
Bourbon, Cherokee, and Crawford. In Missouri, Barton, Benton,
Cedar, Dade, Hickory, Jasper, Lawrence, Morgan, Newton, Polk,
St. Clair, and Vernon.

* From late tonight through Thursday morning

* Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms producing heavy
rainfall are expected from late tonight through Wednesday night.
Rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches are expected, with locally
higher amounts possible.

* The heavy rainfall may lead to flooding of creeks, streams, and
low water crossings.

Instruction: A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
