Update: Flash Flood Watch issued February 12 at 1:40PM PST expiring February 14 at 10:00AM PST by NWS San Francisco CA

Event: Flash Flood Watch
Sender Name: NWS San Francisco CA
Issued: 2019-02-12T13:40:00-08:00
Expires: 2019-02-13T04:00:00-08:00
Description: * The Flash Flood Watch continues for the entire San Francisco
Bay Area and Central Coast except for the hills of San Benito
County and the East Bay Valleys.

* From 10 PM PST this evening through Thursday morning

* An atmospheric river with origins near Hawaii will take aim at
the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Coast tonight through
Thursday morning. Rainfall rates of at least half an inch per
hour are possible during the heaviest showers, with the highest
rates in the higher terrain. Recent rainfall has saturated soils
across the area, and the additional heavy rainfall will create
the potential for widespread shallow landslides, rockslides, and
debris flows. Periods of heavy rainfall will likely inundate
storm drains with rapid rises on small creeks and streams.

* The Wednesday morning commute will be adversely impacted with
flooding roadways and ponding of water expected. Periods of
heavy rain are also possible during the Wednesday afternoon
and Thursday morning commutes.

Instruction: A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
