* At 1043 AM EST, local law enforcement reported flooding has closed
several roads in Fairfax County. Over one inch of rain has fallen
this morning in the Washington DC metropolitan area, which may
result in flooding of other low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include…
Arlington, Alexandria, Centreville, Rockville, Bethesda, Reston,
Annandale, Clinton, Olney, Springfield, College Park, Fort
Washington, Greenbelt, Fairfax, Langley Park, Beltsville, Fort
Hunt, Vienna, Groveton and Forestville.

Instruction: Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
