Event: Coastal Flood Warning

Description: The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington has
issued a Coastal Flood Advisory, which is in effect until 5 AM
EDT Monday. A Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 3 PM
* LOCATIONS…Shoreline in the District of Columbia.
* TIDAL DEPARTURE…Around 2 feet above normal due to fresh water
flowing down river from Little Falls.
* TIMING…The highest levels will be this afternoon. The next
high tide at Southwest Waterfront is at 12:31 AM.
* IMPACTS…For this afternoon: The unprotected area on the
Southwest Waterfront at the DC Seafood Market is expected to
flood. Water is expected to approach parts of the Hains Point
Loop Road, but it will likely be closed. Washington Harbour will
begin to flood if floodgates are not in place. More than a third
of Roosevelt Island will be covered by water. Shoreline
inundation up to two feet above ground is possible elsewhere.
For tonight: Shoreline inundation is expected along portions of
the seawall adjacent to Ohio Drive and the Hains Point Loop
Road, and near the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial. Minor
shoreline inundation up to one foot above ground is possible
Instruction: A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
