Description: The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
South central New Haven County in southern Connecticut…

* Until 815 PM EDT.

* At 711 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned
area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen. Flash
flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
New Haven, Milford, Hamden, North Haven, Orange, Derby, Woodbridge,
West Haven, East Haven and Woodmont.

Instruction: Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
