Description: At 737 AM EDT, reporting gauges indicated earlier flooding had ended
across the area. However, additional showers are about to move back
into the region, and Rock Creek and Sligo Creek could begin flooding
again depending on the amount of rain received. Therefore, the Flood
Warning will continue and could be extended.

Some locations that may experience flooding include…
Arlington, Bethesda, Fort Totten, Howard University, Takoma Park,
Kemp Mill, Chevy Chase, South Kensington, Forest Glen, Martin’s
Additions, North Chevy Chase, American University, Friendship
Village, Georgetown, Adams Morgan, Silver Spring, Wheaton, Chillum,
Kensington and Chevy Chase Village.

Instruction: Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
