Description: The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
North central La Plata County in southwestern Colorado…

* Until 400 PM MDT.

* At 1256 PM MDT, emergency management officials reported
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area.
Radar estimates .25 to .50 inches of rain having already fallen
over recent burn scars. Flash flooding is expected to begin
shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Hermosa and Trimble.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow
moving through Jones Creek, Buck Creek and lower Hermosa Creek. The
debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose
materials.

This includes U.S. Highway 550 in Colorado between mile markers 31
and 38.

Instruction: Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.
