Description: The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington has
issued a Coastal Flood Watch, which is in effect from Monday
afternoon through Wednesday morning.

* LOCATIONS…Shoreline in the District of Columbia and
Arlington County and the city of Alexandria.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE…about 1 to 3 feet above normal.

* TIMING…Around the time of high tide. High tide at the
Washington Channel will be at 12:32 PM Monday and at 1:22 AM
Tuesday and again at 1:18 PM Tuesday

* IMPACTS…Shoreline inundation is expected along portions of the
seawall adjacent to Ohio Drive and the Hains Point Loop Road,
and near the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial. Washington
Harbour will begin to flood if floodgates are not in place. More
than a third of Roosevelt Island is covered by water. Backwater
flooding of Rock Creek in Georgetown begins at this level.
Minor shoreline inundation up to one foot above ground is
possible elsewhere.

Instruction: A Coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for
flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should be
alert for later statements or warnings, and take action to
protect property.
