Description: The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington has
issued a Coastal Flood Watch, which is in effect from Friday
morning through Sunday morning. A Coastal Flood Advisory remains
in effect today.

* LOCATIONS…Shoreline in the District of Columbia and
Arlington County and the city of Alexandria.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE…Around 1.5 feet above normal today. Freshwater
inundation expected beginning Friday morning, with potential to
significantly raise tide levels above normal.

* TIMING…Ongoing today. Later, freshwater inundation could lead
to moderate flooding or greater at times of high tide on Friday
and potentially continuously from Friday night through at least
Sunday.

* IMPACTS…Today shoreline inundation is expected along portions
of the seawall adjacent to Ohio Drive and the Hains Point Loop
Road and near the Tidal Basin. Water is expected to approach the
curb near the intersection of King Street and Strand Street in
Alexandria. Minor shoreline inundation is possible elsewhere.

Instruction: A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

A Coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for
flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should be
alert for later statements or warnings, and take action to
protect property.
