Description: Precipitation will continue north of a developing warm front,
and may become heavy at times this evening as a moist southwesterly
flow strengthens across the southern mountains of North Carolina
and northeast Georgia. The warm front will move across the area
overnight, followed by a cold front on Thursday. The cold front is
expected to trigger and organize thunderstorms with additional
heavy rain through Thursday afternoon. The rain should taper off
late Thursday after the cold front passes.
The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of northeast Georgia and western North Carolina,
including the following areas, in northeast Georgia, Rabun. In
western North Carolina, Graham, Macon, Northern Jackson,
Southern Jackson, and Swain.

* through Thursday evening

* Rain will become heavy at times tonight. Additional heavy rain
is expected on Thursday as thunderstorms move across the
mountains. Rainfall amounts of around three inches are expected,
with southward-facing slopes of the Nantahala and Balsam
mountains receiving four inches or more before tapering off
Thursday evening.

* The excessive rainfall may push some creeks and streams that
feed into the Tuckasegee River and Little Tennessee River
above bankfull by Thursday.

Instruction: A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
